Deccan

Things are a bit different up here in Srinagar. We operate out of Sonwar Bazaar, sharing space with New World Telecommunication. If you’ve ever walked through the bazaar, you know it’s full of life and noise. Deccan is the name on the door, but most people just know us as the guys near the telecom shop. The weather in Kashmir really dictates how the day goes. In the winter, we’re mostly huddled near the heater with cups of noon chai. The office is simple. We don't have much in the way of luxury. It’s more about being where the people are. Sonwar is a central spot, so we see a lot of faces coming and going. Sometimes the phone lines are down or the snow blocks the road, but that’s just life here. We don't try to sound like a big city corporation because we aren't one. We are just a local business in a beautiful, sometimes complicated place. We handle whatever tasks come our way throughout the day. It’s honest work. The walls are a bit bare and the furniture has seen better days, but it serves its purpose. We like being part of the bazaar community. You get to know the other shopkeepers and the regulars who pass by every morning. It feels like home even when work gets busy or stressful. We have been at this address for a while and don't plan on moving.
