Cottage Industries Exposition Ltd

We are located in House 94, Naikoo Mohalla, right in the Broadway Shivpora area of Srinagar. This is a very traditional part of town and our office feels more like a home because it actually is one. Working in Kashmir has its own rhythm, especially with the changing seasons. During the winters, we are usually huddled around with heaters while we manage the inventory of local goods. We deal with things made by local artisans, so there is always a lot of hand-made stuff coming in and out. The Mohalla is a tight-knit community and everyone knows where House 94 is. We don't have a big sign or a flashy entrance. You just walk into the neighborhood and find us. It’s a very practical setup. We spend our mornings checking on new arrivals and our afternoons dealing with shipments. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow, so we do things the old-fashioned way with notebooks. It is a quiet place for the most part, except when the local kids are playing outside on the street. We have been here for a long time and our neighbors are like family to us. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks of keeping the business running. It is honest work and we take it as it comes. No one here is trying to be a corporate executive; we are just locals doing our job every day. It feels right being in this part of Srinagar.
