Bismillah General Store

Our shop, Bismillah General Store, is located in the Natipora area of Srinagar, right across from Doctor Bagh in Naik Bagh. In this part of the city, the weather dictates a lot of how we do things. During the cold months, we keep the heavy blankets ready and stay close to the small heater inside the shop. We are a general store, so we try to keep a bit of everything that a household might need on short notice. You’ll find tea, sugar, spices, and everyday items like soap and candles. The shop itself is an older building with a simple wooden front. It isn't a place with bright lights or glass aisles. Most of the people who come here are neighbors who have lived in Natipora for years. We know each other's families, so a lot of the time spent in the store is just chatting about local things. The shelves are a bit uneven, and the wooden floorboards creak when you walk on them, but it has a comfortable feel. We don't have a website or any fancy advertisements. People just know we are here when they need something. Sometimes when it snows heavily, the road gets quiet and we just wait for the regulars to drop by for their daily supplies. It’s a slow and steady way to run a business, and it suits the pace of life here in Srinagar perfectly.
