Bisimallah Provisional Store

Bisimallah Provisional Store is a small local shop in the Jamallata area of Srinagar, right near Nawa Kadal. We focus on selling basic provisions that families need for their homes. Things like rice, lentils, and spices are what we keep the most. The shop is tucked away in the neighborhood, so we mostly see the people who live nearby. It’s not the kind of place tourists visit. We have been here for years and the shop has become a part of the daily routine for many locals. Srinagar is a beautiful place, but life here can be tough sometimes. We just try to keep the shop running no matter what. The space inside is quite small and we have things piled up to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze but we know exactly where everything is. We don’t use any modern marketing. People just know we are here. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance and talk to whoever comes in. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We don’t have any big ambitions to grow or change things. We just want to provide what the neighbors need at a fair price. It’s an honest way to make a living and we are happy with that. Every day starts with cleaning the front and ends with locking the heavy shutters at night.
