Bazaz General Store

Bazaz General Store is located in Goni Khan Market, over in the Amira Kadal section of Srinagar. We sit right in the middle of Maharaja Bazar, which is a place filled with history and lots of small shops like ours. We sell the kinds of things you’d expect from a neighborhood general store. It’s a small space, so things are stacked pretty high on the shelves. You might have to ask us where something is because we have so much tucked away. The 190001 area is always bustling with people looking for a deal. We like the energy of the market, even when it gets a bit loud outside. It’s just me and my family members taking turns to look after the shop. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket; we just want to be a reliable spot for the locals. Srinagar winters can be tough, but we keep the doors open as much as possible. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in traffic, so we might run out of something for a day. That’s just life in the bazaar. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just this physical shop where we meet people face to face. It’s been our way for a long time and we don't see any reason to change it now. We just stay busy and keep the shelves as full as we can.
