Basil Beverages

Up here in Srinagar, the weather changes so fast. Basil Beverages is located in Sampora, right near Pantha Chowk. It’s a busy spot because of all the traffic coming in and out of the district. We’ve been operating from this location for a bit, and it’s a lot of work keeping things running when it gets really cold. You wouldn't think people want cold beverages when there is snow on the ground, but they do. We spend a lot of time in the warehouse area, which can get quite chilly. We wear thick jackets most of the year while we are moving the bottles around. The road outside at Pantha Chowk is always full of trucks and buses, so it’s never quiet. Our building is pretty basic, just stone and tin, but it keeps the rain out. We don’t have a fancy office with carpets. It’s just a place to store the drinks and manage the deliveries. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to rely on the generator to keep the lights on so we can see the labels. I’ve lived in Srinagar all my life, so I’m used to the pace here. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay warm while we work. It’s a small operation, and we don't have any big corporate plans. We just want to keep the local shops supplied with what they need and make sure our families are taken care of.
