Baba General Store

Up here in Srinagar, specifically in the Hawal area, we run Baba General Store. It’s a cold place in the winter, so we spend a lot of time making sure we have enough supplies for when the snow starts. The shop is small and sits right on the street in 190011. We carry the usual things like flour, sugar, and tea. It’s a quiet life for the most part, though things can get busy in the mornings. We don't have any staff, it’s just the family taking care of everything. The wooden shelves are old and have seen many years of service. We don't bother with fancy displays or anything like that. People know what we have, and they just ask for it. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes out, but we still manage to keep the store open. We like talking to the neighbors who stop by for their daily bread. It’s a local business in every sense. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Srinagar. We just want to make sure the people in Hawal have a place to get their necessities. The shop has its quirks, like a door that squeaks and a floor that isn't perfectly level, but it’s our place. It’s just a normal general store where everyone is welcome. When the sun goes down, we lock up and head home nearby.
