Our place is at D No 2-67 in Rayabhupalapatnam, which is part of the Peddapuram Mandalam. It is a very rural spot, surrounded by a lot of green space and fields. Shankavaram Prakruthi Organic Paddy Producer Company Limited is right where the action is when it comes to rice. We are surrounded by paddy fields, so our work follows the seasons of the rain and the harvest. The office is a simple building with thick walls to keep the heat out. Inside, it’s mostly just us and our records. We spend a lot of time out of our chairs, talking to the people who are actually growing the crops. There is always a bit of mud on the floor during the monsoon season because people are coming in and out from the fields. It’s not a place where you would wear a suit or anything formal. We keep things very casual and practical. The air here smells like wet earth and hay most of the time. We don't have a lot of modern office gadgets, just the basics to keep track of the paddy. It is a quiet village life for the most part, except for when the harvest starts and everything gets very busy. We just try to stay on top of the work and make sure the organic process is followed properly. It’s a good, honest way to live and work. Sometimes we stay late when the grain is coming in.
