Prathamika Bidyalaya

In the small village of Gowduguranti in Srikakulam, there is Prathamika Bidyalaya. It’s a primary school, so it’s full of the younger children from the village. The building is quite small and sits in a quiet spot where you can mostly hear the birds or the sounds of the village. We have just a few rooms where different classes sit together. It’s a very simple setup with some mats on the floor or basic wooden desks for the older kids. The walls are painted in bright colors to make it feel a bit more cheerful for the little ones. We don't have a big library or a computer lab. Most of the teaching happens with a blackboard and some old charts. The kids bring their own bags and water bottles, and we have a small area where they can play during their breaks. It’s a very close-knit environment because the teachers and the students all live in or near Gowduguranti. We know all the parents and they know us. The school is a central part of the village life, even if it’s just a humble little building. We don’t have much in the way of funding for extras, so we make do with what we have. It’s about teaching the kids how to read and write and do their sums in a place where they feel comfortable every day until the school day ends and they go back home.
