Pen Hospital & Gift Items

Our little shop is right near the II Town Police Station, so we see a lot of activity on the street all day long. We’ve been fixing pens here for a long time now. People bring in old fountain pens that belonged to their grandfathers or fathers, usually with dried ink inside or a broken nib that won't write anymore. It’s fiddly work and my hands are often stained with blue or black ink by the time lunchtime rolls around. Beside the repair desk, we have some shelves with gift items like wall clocks, photo frames, and some small toys for kids. It’s a bit crowded in here because the shop isn't very big. The police officers sometimes stop by to get a refill for their ballpoints or to buy a new notebook for their notes. Sometimes the lights flicker when the big trucks go past the station on the main road. We keep a lot of spare parts in small wooden drawers that only I can really navigate properly. It’s not organized like a modern supermarket, but I know exactly where everything is kept. If you need a gift for a birthday or a graduation, we have some decent options that aren't too expensive. Most people come for the pen repairs though, since not many places do that kind of work anymore. It’s quiet work, mostly sitting under a bright lamp with a magnifying glass. The floor is old tile and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We just keep doing what we do.
