We are based out of Nayi Mandi in Ghadsana, right in the middle of all the market action. Being in the agro gum business means we spend a lot of time looking at crops and dealing with the local farmers. The mandi is always noisy and full of people, especially during the harvest season. We have been here for a while, and we know most of the people who come through the gates. Our work involves a lot of weighing, testing, and making sure the gum is of a decent quality before it goes out. It gets dusty and loud sometimes, but that is just the way it is in a place like Ghadsana. We don't have a fancy office; it is mostly just a place to store the bags and keep the records. The weather really dictates how our week is going to go. If it rains, everything slows down. We spend a lot of time on the phone with buyers and checking the market prices for the day. It is honest work and it keeps us connected to the land around here. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish loading the trucks, but nobody complains much. It is just the rhythm of the mandi. We focus on the gum products and making sure they get to the right places without too much trouble. It's a noisy life here in the mandi but we are used to it by now. We just focus on the bags of gum and the people we deal with every day.
