Ambika Traders

Ambika Traders is over in Sowcarpet, at No. 22. It’s also known as New 43 on Nambuliar Street. If you’ve ever been to Sowcarpet, you know how tight the streets are and how many people are always moving around at all hours. Our shop is right in the middle of all that energy. It’s a small space, packed with whatever we’re trading at the time. We’ve got metal shelves reaching up to the ceiling. It can be a bit cramped when we get a big delivery of sacks or boxes, but we manage to fit it all in. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and delivery carts. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shop owners on the block by their first names. We drink tea from the guy at the corner most mornings while we open up the shutters. There’s no fancy marketing department or polished reception area here. It’s just us, the inventory, and the customers who walk through the door. The floor is a bit worn down from years of heavy boxes being moved around and dragged. We don’t mind the scuffs. It shows we’ve been busy. It’s a very local feel, nothing like those big malls with their bright lights. Just a regular trading business in a very old, crowded part of town that we happen to like quite a bit. It gets hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fan stays on.
