Transmission Gears

D-53 in Naraina Vihar is where we handle everything for Transmission Gears. It’s an older part of the industrial area in Delhi. The building has been here a long time, and you can tell by the way the floors have worn down in the spots where the heavy gear-cutting machines sit. It’s a noisy place to work. Gears are clanking, metal is grinding, and there’s always someone hammering something in the back. We don't have any fancy soundproofing. If you’re here, you’re going to hear the work being done. The office is just a small room at the front with a couple of old desks and a mountain of invoices. We spend most of our time out on the floor anyway. It’s a bit dark inside, but we know the layout of the machines by heart. We don't go in for big mission statements or anything like that. We just make gears. Some are small, some are huge, and all of them are greasy. Most of the staff have been here for a decade or more, so we’re like a grumpy family. We drink a lot of chai and complain about the traffic on the Ring Road or the weather. It’s not a glamorous business, but it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the teeth on the gears right and making sure they don't fail when they’re put to use. That's the whole story.
