The Medicine House

Our shop is up on the first floor at 11/2 in Yusuf Sarai. Being on the first floor is a bit different because people have to walk up the stairs, but we’re right there in the main market near Mandir Wali Gali. It’s a very busy area with the temple nearby and all the other shops. You can always hear the bells from the temple and the sound of the crowds downstairs. The stairs are a bit narrow, so we tell people to be careful. Up here, it’s actually got a decent amount of space. We’ve got rows of glass cabinets filled with everything from vitamins to blood pressure meds. The floor is a bit uneven in one corner, so we had to prop up one of the shelves with a piece of wood. It works fine though. We’ve been in Yusuf Sarai for quite a while now. The morning sun comes through the front window and makes it really bright for a few hours. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that stay on all day. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to this market for decades. We know their names and what they usually need. It’s just a regular business run by regular people. We spend our time checking stock and talking to the distributors when they bring the new crates up.
