Studio Next

If you’re looking for B4-156 in Safdarjung Enclave, you’ll find us on a pretty standard street. Studio Next isn't a huge operation. It’s just a few of us in a room with enough computers to get the job done. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so it stays fairly calm during the day, which we appreciate. Our space is filled with the usual stuff you’d expect—lots of rulers, some dusty samples of building materials, and stacks of files that need filing. We don’t really do the whole polished corporate thing. The chairs don’t match, and the clock on the wall is five minutes fast. Most mornings involve checking emails and seeing what the site supervisors are complaining about. Architecture is a lot of back-and-forth, and we spend plenty of time on the phone or staring at CAD drawings until our eyes hurt. It’s a regular job for us. We like the fact that we can walk out and find a decent spot for lunch nearby. The work gets done because we stay focused on the task at hand, not because we have some fancy philosophy. Sometimes the office is quiet, and other times everyone is talking at once. It’s just the way things go when you’re trying to figure out how to fit a kitchen into a tight space or where to put the windows. We’ve been at this for a while and just keep at it.
