Rockland Hospital

People know us as Rockland Hospital. The address on some of the old records says rockland hospitla, which is just a typo from when things were being typed up fast, I guess. We are a local fixture. The building itself is pretty large and it has that specific smell hospitals always have—cleaning supplies and floor wax. We spend most of our time dealing with the usual daily routines. Some days it’s very quiet in the mornings, then suddenly everyone shows up at two in the afternoon. We have a lot of staff who have been here for years. They know which doors stick and which chairs are the most comfortable in the waiting area. It’s not the newest place in the world, but it works. We’ve got the regular departments you’d expect. Sometimes the coffee machine in the break room breaks down, which makes for a grumpy morning for the night shift. We just try to help the people who walk through the doors. There isn't much to say beyond that. We’re just here doing the job every day. The neighborhood around us has changed a lot, but we stay pretty much the same. It’s a busy life working in a place like this. You see a lot of things, both good and hard. We just keep the lights on and the doors open for whoever needs us. It's a simple way of looking at it, but it's the truth of our daily lives here.
