Renukiran Welfare Foundation

The office for Renukiran Welfare Foundation is basically just H No. A-75 in Ekta Vihar, which is part of the Jaitpur Extension area in Badarpur. If you know South Delhi, you know this part of town is pretty crowded and always moving. We are right there in the middle of it. It’s a house, really, and we’ve turned part of it into where we run the foundation. Living and working in the same neighborhood makes a difference because you actually see the people you are trying to help. There’s no real disconnect. Some days the dust from the road gets into everything, and the noise from the street is always there, but it feels real. We started this because we saw families nearby struggling with things that seemed like they should be easier. We don't have a big corporate board or anything like that. It’s just us and some volunteers from the street who have a bit of extra time. We handle things as they come up. If a neighbor has a struggle with their kids' schooling or needs help with local paperwork, they know where the door is. It’s a bit cramped inside sometimes when everyone shows up at once, but we make it work with plastic chairs and a lot of patience. We’ve been in Badarpur for a good bit now and don't plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon.
