Our office is over at L1 16 Hauz Khas Enclave in New Delhi. Ramesh Jain Associateschartered Accountants is basically where we spend all our waking hours during tax season. Hauz Khas is a nice area but we mostly see the inside of these four walls. There are folders and ledgers all over the place. We try to keep it neat but that never lasts long when we are busy. The address Delhi 110016 has been our home base for quite a while. It’s a quiet street for the most part which is good for focusing. We don't have a big receptionist or a lobby with fancy chairs. You just walk in and we are there working at our desks. Sometimes we stay late into the night when there is a deadline. The printer makes a lot of noise and the air conditioner is a bit loud but it keeps us cool. We do the numbers and the filings because that is what we know how to do. It isn't glamorous work. Most days involve a lot of checking and double-checking things. We have some tea in the afternoon to stay awake. It is just a small group of us here. We don't use big words or try to act like we are in a movie. We just do the accounting work that needs to be done. It is honest work and it keeps us occupied.
