Punjab Dairy

We open up the shop really early in the morning, usually before the sun is even up. Shop No 10 in Lakshmi Bai Market is where we have been for a long time now. Most people around Laxmi Bai Nagar know us because they come by for their daily milk or curd before breakfast. It is a small shop with not much room to sit, so people just grab what they need and go on with their day. We deal with fresh dairy every single day, so there is always a lot of cleaning and scrubbing to do to keep things right. The floor usually stays a bit wet because of the ice and the heavy crates being moved around. It gets very busy around 7 AM when everyone is getting ready for school or work. We have a few guys who help with the local deliveries on their cycles. The fridge makes a lot of noise, but we are used to it by now. My father used to run this place, and now I am here most days doing the same thing. We do not do anything fancy, just the basic stuff people need for their tea and daily cooking. Sometimes we run out of certain items if the delivery truck from the farm is late. The market is a tight squeeze, especially on the weekends when more people are out. We know most of our regular customers by their names and what they usually buy.
