Our office is on the first floor over in E 3/7, Vasant Vihar. It’s a nice enough spot in New Delhi, though the parking can be a total nightmare during the day. We spend most of our time looking at floor plans, picking out fabrics, and trying to get contractors to show up when they say they will. Doing interior work is mostly about solving problems that you didn't see coming. You open up a wall and find pipes where they shouldn't be, or the client changes their mind about the color after the third coat is already dry. It's frustrating, but it's part of the job. We don't have a shiny showroom with perfect lighting. Most of our desks are covered in wood chips, paint swatches, and half-empty cups of tea. We’ve done houses all over the city, from small apartments to bigger places. We aren't trying to be the most famous decorators in India; we just want to finish the project so the family can move in and we can get paid. The team is just a few designers and a couple of guys who handle the site visits. We talk a lot, we argue a bit about where a sofa should go, and we try to make things look decent. It’s honest work. If you come by, mind the stairs, they’re a bit steep. We’re usually there until late most evenings.
