This is London House, and we’ve been over at the D.D.A. Shopping Center in Shanti Niketan for a while. Our unit is number 18. It’s a decent spot in a neighborhood that has its own pace. Unlike a regular clothing store, we focus on taking care of garments. This means we spend a lot of time looking at fabrics and cleaning them. The machines are running pretty much from the moment we open the doors in the morning. Shanti Niketan is a quiet area, but the shopping center gets its fair share of visitors throughout the day. We see a lot of the same faces coming in with their laundry or items that need special attention. We don't have a big marketing team; it’s mostly just us handling the clothes and talking to the people who live nearby. The back of the shop is where all the real work happens with the pressing and the washing. It gets quite warm back there. We try to stay organized, but with so many different pieces coming in, the racks are usually full to the brim. We take our work seriously because people trust us with their expensive clothes. It’s a practical business. We don't use fancy words or try to act like we’re something we’re not. We just show up, do the cleaning, and make sure everything is ready when folks come to pick their things up. That’s our daily life here at the center.
