Lilies & Archids

We've been at C 2/57 Hauz Khas for a long time now. It’s a small place but we keep it busy with all sorts of flowers coming in every morning. My father started this and now I’m here most days. It gets a bit crowded inside when the fresh stock arrives. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and making sure everything looks okay for whoever walks in. People usually find us near the main market area. The name on the sign says Lilies & Archids, even though the spelling is a bit different than what you see in books. It’s just how we’ve always had it. Hauz Khas is a fast place but inside the shop things move a bit slower. We try to keep things simple here. Sometimes the floor is a bit wet from the buckets and the petals are everywhere by noon. That is just how it goes when you work with plants. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. Just flowers in buckets and some ribbon in the drawers. If you walk past the corner you can usually smell the lilies before you see the door. It’s hard work standing on your feet all day but it's what we do. The neighbors know us well by now. We just open up early and stay until the sun goes down or the flowers are mostly gone for the day. It is a good enough life for us here in this corner.
