Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. is located in Sector 18-B in Dwarka. We are in the DDA-HIG flats, specifically Block A, Flat No. 163. Dwarka is such a big sub-city that it takes a while to learn where everything is. Our office is just a regular flat where we keep all our records and meet the site supervisors. It’s a bit of a climb if the elevator is acting up, which happens now and then. Inside, you won't find any marble floors or sleek desks. It’s mostly metal cupboards and wooden tables that have seen better days. We spend a lot of time on the phone here, arguing about sand prices or checking on the concrete mixers. New Delhi is a tough place for construction because of the dust and the heat, and Dwarka is no different. We just keep our heads down and do the work. There isn't much to say about our philosophy because we don't really have one. We just build things and hope the rain doesn't ruin the schedule. It is a bit loud sometimes with the traffic outside, but you get used to the noise after a few weeks. We are just local people trying to make a living in the construction trade. If you come by, we might offer you a glass of water, but don't expect a guided tour or anything polished. It is just a work space where things get done, day in and day out.
