Being in Phase I of the Naraina Industrial Area means there is never a quiet moment. At B-251, we are right in the thick of it. You can hear the machines from the neighboring units and the constant sound of trucks reversing into the narrow lanes outside. Our office is a bit of a sanctuary from all that noise, though the walls aren't exactly soundproof. We spend most of our hours tracking shipments and dealing with the paperwork that comes with importing and exporting. There are boxes stacked in the corner and the shelves are full of old ledgers and catalogs that we probably should have tossed years ago. It’s the kind of place where you always know where the good stapler is hidden. We have a small pantry where the kettle is always on because we need that caffeine to keep up with the pace. The air is always a bit heavy with the smell of grease and exhaust from the street, but that is just part of being in an industrial zone. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor; we are more concerned with making sure the inventory matches the sheets. It’s a practical space for practical work. Everyone knows their job and we just get on with it, day in and day out, until the shutters go down at night and we can head home to rest for the next day.
