Arogyam Hospital

Our place is located at Dabri Mod, which everyone knows is one of the busiest spots you can find. Being right at the Mod means there is a constant stream of cars and rickshaws going past our front door. The hospital itself has been part of this landscape for a long time, watching the flyovers and roads change around it. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with different corridors leading to the consultation rooms and the wards. We’ve got some heavy curtains on the windows to try and block out some of the glare and the noise from the street. The floor is made of old stone that stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. We have a small staff of nurses and doctors who have been working together for years, so we all know each other’s habits. Lunch breaks are usually taken in turns in a tiny room at the back where we keep a kettle and some biscuits. We see a lot of emergency cases because of our location near the main crossing. It can get pretty frantic at times, especially in the evenings when the traffic is at its worst. We don't have a fancy lobby with sofas; it's mostly just sturdy chairs that are easy to wipe down. People come to us because they know we are here and we’ve been here forever. It’s a practical, no-nonsense hospital that serves the people of Dabri Mod and the nearby colonies.
