Architect Yetinder Mathur

My office is at U-21 in Green Park Extn. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time. I’ve been working as an architect for a good bit now, and this is where I keep all my files and drawing boards. It’s just a standard workspace, really. Not much to look at unless you like piles of blueprints and old site photos. I spend a lot of time visiting sites and then coming back here to figure out why the measurements don’t match the reality on the ground. That happens more than you’d think. People come by when they want to build something new or change an old house into something more modern. I don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what I do. I just draw the lines and make sure the structural parts make sense. It’s a lot of back and forth with the city rules and making sure everything is legal. Sometimes I’m out all day, and other times I’m just stuck at the desk drinking tea and trying to finish a floor plan. It’s a steady kind of life. Green Park is a nice area to be in, close to everything. I’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. I just keep doing my work, one project at a time, trying to make sure the buildings I help with stay standing and look okay. Most of my day is just solving small problems before they become big ones.
