Alik Leather

Our shop is tucked away on the second floor of Palika Bhawan, right across from the Hyatt Hotel. It’s a bit of a climb if you aren’t used to the stairs, but we like it up here. Sector-13 in R.K. Puram is always moving, but inside M-13, things are a bit more steady. We spend most of our time at Alik Leather handling various hides and checking the stitching on whatever came in that morning. It’s not a quiet place because there is always some sound of tools or people moving boxes around. The floor is a bit worn out in the spots where we walk the most. We’ve got shelves that are probably too full, but everything has its place if you know where to look. It’s not the kind of place where things are perfectly lined up for a photo. We have a small kettle in the corner for when we need a break. Most of our day is spent talking to suppliers or making sure the stuff we have is ready to go. The air always smells a little bit like leather and wax, which we don't even notice anymore until someone else mentions it. People sometimes get lost looking for us, but once they find the second floor, they usually stay for a chat. It’s just a normal workplace with real people doing their jobs every day. We don't worry about being fancy. We just focus on the leather.
