Down in Purnajoy Para, within the Bampur Mauja of South Tripura, you will find us working. We are Kalajhari Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited. It’s a community effort more than anything else. We all live and work in the Paschim Sambog area. Most of the farmers here have relatively small plots of land, so joining together was the only way to get our organic goods out there. We don't have a big marketing budget or any of that. We just rely on the quality of what we grow in the Gomati soil. The work is physically demanding, especially during the monsoon season when the rain makes everything a bit messy. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds and natural ways to keep the crops healthy. It’s not a fancy business; our meetings usually happen under a tree or in someone’s front yard. We have to deal with the same problems every farmer faces, like pests and market prices. But being part of this company helps us face those things together. We are proud of being from South Tripura and want to show that we can grow great organic food right here. If you ever find yourself in Purnajoy Para, come say hello.
