We've been here at 124 Nauta Cortalim for quite some time now. Most people around this part of Goa know the building. It’s just a regular office where we handle life insurance papers and help folks with their claims. My desk is usually covered in folders, and the tea guy comes by twice a day which is always a highlight. We don't have fancy leather chairs or a big, polished lobby like the offices you see in movies. It’s mostly just us sitting at computers, checking files, and answering the phone when it rings. Sometimes the internet goes out when it rains really hard, which happens a lot in this area. We deal with a lot of families who come in looking to get things sorted for their future. It’s not exactly the most exciting work in the world, but it’s what we do every day from morning until the evening. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint if we ever find the time. We’ve got a small sign hanging outside so people don't miss the turn off the main road. If you walk in, you’ll probably see me or one of the other three people who work in this unit. We just try to get the paperwork right so there aren't any headaches for anyone later on. Usually, it's pretty quiet in here unless it's the end of the month and everyone is rushing. We keep the ceiling fans running all day because it gets pretty stuffy otherwise. That’s the long and short of our spot here in Cortalim.
