Kamat Nursing Home

Kamat Nursing Home is located in Shanti Nagar, which is right in the Upper Bazar area of Ponda. It’s a nice enough spot, though being near the bazaar means it’s never truly quiet during the day. You can hear the vendors and the cars most of the time. The nursing home itself is a smaller building compared to the big city hospitals, which makes it feel a bit more personal. We know the neighbors and we see the same people walking past every day. Inside, things are pretty simple. We have a few rooms and a small waiting area that gets quite full in the evenings. The staff here are mostly local folks who have been working in Shanti Nagar for a long time. We don’t have any polished speeches or corporate slogans. We just open the doors in the morning and stay until the work is done. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or we need to paint a wall, but we just handle it. It’s a practical place for people in Ponda to come when they need help. We have a small desk for check-ins and some chairs for waiting. It’s not a place for luxury, just a place for getting things sorted. We like being in Upper Bazar because it’s central. We just keep doing our thing, one day at a time.
