Holy Spirit Hospital And Nursing Home

Our place is House No 151 on G Rebelo Road, very close to the Holy Spirit Church here in Margao. It’s a hospital but also a nursing home, so we have people staying with us for longer periods. The building has that old Margao feel to it. We have windows that let in a bit of a breeze when it’s not too hot outside. The staff lives nearby, so they don't have a long commute to get here. We have beds set up in rows and some private rooms for those who need them. Families are always coming in with tiffins for their relatives. It creates a bit of a homely smell in the corridors. We deal with a lot of elderly patients who need extra care every single day. The church bells next door help us keep track of the time. We aren't a high-tech facility with glowing lights. It’s more about the daily routine of checkups and medicine. We try to keep the garden outside looking okay, though the weeds grow fast. It’s a busy life, but it’s quiet in the rooms during the afternoons. We just keep going, day after day, looking after whoever comes through the gate near the church. It is a slow and steady process taking care of people.
