You can find us at 1798 on the ground floor, tucked away in Parsadi Gali. Kotla Mubarakpur is a maze if you aren't from around here, with all the narrow lanes and bikes parked everywhere. Our door is right there on the street level, so we see everyone walking by. Maunitva Nirakaran For Welfare Federation isn’t some big institution with a lobby. It’s just a ground floor space that stays a bit cool even when it’s hot outside because of the thick walls. We have some plastic chairs for when people stop by and a wooden desk that’s been here since we started. The Gali is usually loud with kids playing or neighbors chatting, which makes the day go by faster. We usually have the fan on high speed because the air doesn't move much in these back streets. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, and we just sit outside until it comes back. It’s a very local way of working. We know the shopkeepers nearby, and they know us. We don’t have a website or anything like that that we look at much. Most of our time is spent just dealing with whoever comes through the door or handling the physical files we keep in the metal cabinets. It’s a quiet life inside the office, even if the Gali outside is never silent. We like it this way, it feels real. It is just a basic place where we can sit and do what we need to.
