Hussif Handicrafts LLP is based in Shaheen Bagh. We’re at F-144, Ground Floor, Abul Fazal Enclave Part 2. South Delhi 110025. It’s a busy neighborhood with lots of narrow streets and people everywhere. Our place is on the ground floor, so it’s easy to duck in and out. We work with handicrafts. That means a lot of manual labor and attention to small details. The workshop is always full of tools and raw materials. It’s never really clean, to be honest. There’s always sawdust or scraps of something on the floor. We like the mess though. It means we’re actually making things. We aren’t some big corporation with a fancy boardroom. We usually sit on stools or whatever is available. The light isn’t always great, but we make it work. People in the area know us as the place where things get made by hand. It takes longer that way, but that’s just how it is. We don't use a lot of big machines. Most of the work is done by hand. Sometimes the power cuts out in the middle of a job. We just pull the curtains back to let in the sunlight and keep going. We don't really have a closing time—we just leave when the work for the day is finished. It’s tiring but satisfying at the end of the day when you see a finished piece. We don't have a marketing department. We just show people what we’ve made.
