Deoli is part of South Delhi, but it feels different from the malls and big offices. It’s more lived-in and narrow. Our workplace is basically where the stone gets stored and sorted. We have all kinds of stones sitting around in the yard, and they get quite hot in the Delhi sun. Working with stone is heavy work. Every piece has its own weight and texture, and you can’t really rush moving them. The neighbors know us, and we are pretty much part of the daily rhythm of the street.
