House No 169 in Sukhdev Vihar is where we do most of our thinking and planning. We are up on the second floor, which gives a decent view of the street, but mostly we are looking at drawings and legal papers. Windsor Builtwell has been around for a bit, handling the bits and pieces of construction that most people don’t think about until they start their own project. Being in New Delhi means dealing with a lot of heat and a lot of noise, but the office stays relatively calm. We don't have a big reception desk or people in suits waiting to greet you. Usually, it's just one of us looking up from a desk covered in site photos. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or trying to figure out why a delivery is stuck in traffic. It’s a lot of practical, everyday work. We don't make big promises; we just try to get the walls up and the roofs on without too much trouble. Sometimes the printer jams when we need it most, and the tea gets cold while we’re arguing over a measurement. That’s just how it is here. We like the neighborhood, even if parking is a bit of a nightmare sometimes. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of Sukhdev Vihar and the people around here. It’s just a place where we try to build things that stay standing for a long time.
