Vertel Communication Systems is located at A-294 in Phase-1 of the Okhla Industrial Estate. Okhla is always buzzing with people and vehicles, and our spot is no different. We deal with communication systems, so there are always wires and handheld units sitting on the benches. The building is a standard industrial block. It’s got that concrete feel that most places around here have. We’ve been here long enough that we know the guys at the tea stall down the road by their first names. Inside, it’s a mix of a workshop and a small office. We have shelves filled with spare parts and boxes waiting to be shipped out or opened. It's not a quiet place, as there's usually someone testing a radio or talking on the phone. The lights are those long tubes that flicker a bit when you first turn them on in the morning. We don't have a receptionist or anything; usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up. It gets pretty dusty because of the construction nearby, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment. We just focus on keeping the systems running. It’s regular work for regular people. The traffic on the way out in the evening is always a mess, but that's just Okhla for you. We just pack up our things and head out once the clock hits five. It's a busy life here in Phase-1 and we just keep it going.
