Tailor Up

Our little workshop is at No. 24 A in Shahpur Jat Village. If you get lost, just look for the Flies of Italy shop, we are right near there. Shahpur Jat is a maze of narrow lanes and old buildings, and we love being part of it. The sound of sewing machines is basically the soundtrack to our day. We have racks of clothes and rolls of fabric leaning against every wall. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s just how tailoring goes. There are pins on the floor and scraps of thread everywhere. We spend most of our time measuring, cutting, and stitching. It’s not a polished boutique with a big glass front. It’s a working tailor shop where people come to get things made or fixed. We have a big wooden table in the middle where all the cutting happens. The light isn’t always great in the back, so we have a few extra lamps hanging from the ceiling. We know the other shopkeepers in the lane, and we often swap stories while we’re out getting a snack. It’s a very hands-on job, and our hands are usually covered in chalk or marks from the needles. We don't have a fancy mission statement. We just show up, take the orders, and try to get the garments finished by the time people need them. It's rewarding to see something come together from just a piece of flat cloth. We stay busy and that is enough for us.
