Taha Shawls & Gifts is tucked away in the basement of C-19 in Lajpat Nagar-I. It isn't a place you'd stumble across by accident unless you’re looking for the stairs. Down here, it’s a bit cooler than the street level, which is nice in the summer. We have shelves full of different fabrics and boxed gifts stacked up against the walls. It’s not a fancy showroom. We mostly use the space for keeping inventory and getting orders ready. There’s a small table where we check the quality of the shawls before they go out. Sometimes the lighting is a bit dim, but we have some extra lamps for when we need to see the fine patterns. We’ve been in this basement for a while now. Lajpat Nagar is always busy, so it’s actually kind of peaceful down here once you get inside. We don’t spend much on advertising. Most people find us because a friend told them where to look. We just try to keep things simple and organized. It can get a bit crowded when a new shipment arrives and we have to find room for everything. But we make it work. We aren't trying to be some massive retail store. We just like what we do and we keep at it. If you’re coming to see us, just look for the C-19 sign and head down. We are usually here from the morning until the market slows down and we close up.
