Shri Laxmi Handmade Paper & Paper Products

We are situated at 73, Bapu Park, which is right near the D.D.A. Park in Kotla Mubarakpur. Being so close to the park is nice because we occasionally get a little bit of a breeze through the door. Shri Laxmi Handmade Paper & Paper Products is a busy little place. There is often quite a bit of water on the floor because of the way we have to make the paper. We have these large vats where the pulp gets mixed up every morning. It is a messy process, and our clothes usually have bits of fiber stuck to them by the end of the day. We hang the wet sheets of paper up on lines to dry, and they look like rows of white flags hanging from the ceiling. When the wind blows into the shop, they all rustle at the same time. We make various items like diaries and envelopes once the paper has dried out. The cutters we use are heavy and make a loud thudding sound that echoes. We do not have a fancy storefront at all. Most people just see the stacks of paper drying in the back area. It is just a small team of us working here. We have learned how to move around each other in the tight space without getting in the way. The smell of wet pulp is just part of the job.
