Shearling Skins

If you come down to Okhla Phase II, you will find Shearling Skins at 22, Dsidc Scheme 2. It is an older building, but it serves us well for what we need to do. Dealing with skins is a very specific kind of job. It is tactile and requires a lot of time spent sorting through piles to find the right pieces for an order. The air in the workshop always has that distinct smell of leather and treatment oils, but you get used to it quickly. We have large benches where we spread things out to check for any marks or uneven patches. It is not the kind of place you would want to wear your best clothes to, as there is always some scrap or dust on the floor. Okhla is a crowded area, and getting a tempo parked near the door can be a real struggle most mornings. Our crew is small but they know their stuff. Some of the guys have been working with leather since they were young, so they can judge the quality just by feeling it with their hands. We do not have a marketing department or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that people know we have the inventory they need. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just open the big doors for light and keep working. It is steady work that keeps us busy until late. There is always something to do.
