Sanjivani Traditional Centre

Our place is located on the 3rd floor of S 240 in Greater Kailash I. It is very near the M Block Market, which means it’s always loud outside. Sanjivani Traditional Centre is a bit quieter since we are up on the third floor. The stairs can be a bit steep for some, but we are used to them by now. We spend most of our morning just cleaning the jars and checking the herbs. The air usually smells like dried roots and some kind of burnt wood. We have old benches for people to wait on, and they aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. We aren't a big corporate office with glass walls. It’s just a couple of rooms filled with traditional things. Most of the people who come to see us are from the neighborhood. They’ve been coming here for a long time. We spend a lot of time listening to their stories while we mix up whatever they need. Sometimes the electricity goes off and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, just chatting. We keep our records in big thick books with yellowing pages. It’s a slow way of doing things, but it feels right. When the sun sets, the light through the windows is quite nice. We just lock up and head home like everyone else.
