Being in the building material business in New Delhi means you are always in the middle of a crowd. Our shop, Raju Building Material Supplier, is at House No. B-212 in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar. If you know the J. J. Colony in Khanpur, you know how narrow and busy the streets are. We have stacks of bricks, sand, and cement taking up most of the space. It is a very dusty environment and your clothes are usually covered in grit by lunchtime. We do not have a fancy showroom with glass windows. People just stop by when they are building a new wall or fixing up their homes. Most of the day is spent loading up small trucks or rickshaws to get materials through the tight lanes of the neighborhood. The noise from the traffic on the main road never really stops. We are a small operation, and it is mostly just us handling the orders as they come in. There is no corporate talk here, just hard work. Sometimes it is hard to keep everything organized when so many people are coming and going. The summer heat in Delhi makes the physical work very tiring, but we have been here for a long time and we are used to it. We just provide the basics that people need to build their lives, one brick at a time.
