Promise For Education Foundation

We run the Promise For Education Foundation out of a flat in the Paryavaran Complex in Saket. It is Flat No 16 in the A23 building. It is a quiet enough spot, though Saket can be pretty hectic. We started this because we saw how many kids in the nearby areas were struggling with school or didn't have the right books. We aren't teachers ourselves, mostly just concerned neighbors. The flat is usually stacked with old textbooks and notebooks we've collected. It’s a bit cramped, to be honest. We spend a lot of time sitting around the kitchen table planning things out. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We have a few volunteers who come by when they can, usually after their real jobs are done for the day. Sometimes we have to move boxes of supplies just to find a place to sit. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just talk to parents and see who needs what. New Delhi is a tough place to get ahead if you don't have the basics, so that’s where we step in. It’s simple, grassroots stuff. We make mistakes sometimes and things don't always go according to plan, but we stay at it. Most of the people in South Delhi know the complex, so it’s easy for folks to find us if they need help with their kids' schooling. It is just basic work.
