About Pournima Jeevan Kshirsagar – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in South Delhi
My place is in Ashram, specifically Pocket-C 196 D. If you know Ashram, you know it’s always moving and always loud with the traffic coming off the flyover. But once you get inside the pocket, it settles down a little bit. Pournima Jeevan Kshirsagar is the name I use for my professional work here. It’s a small space, really just enough for a desk, a couple of chairs, and my computer. I’ve lived and worked around here long enough to know all the shortcuts through the narrow lanes. The building is older, so the walls have some marks and the flooring is that old-style stone. It’s comfortable though. I don’t believe in having a fancy setup just to impress people. I’d rather just show them the results of what I’m working on. I usually have the radio playing softly in the background to drown out the distant traffic. My filing system is mostly stacks of paper that look messy to anyone else, but I can find what I need in seconds. There’s a tea stall just around the corner that makes the best ginger tea, so I’m there at least twice a day for a break. It’s just me doing my thing in a corner of Delhi that never sleeps. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real and it works for me. I usually stay quite late when the project is interesting and the house is quiet.
