Our office is tucked away on the second floor of B-27 in Nizamuddin West. It is a bit of an old building, but it works for what we do. We spend most of our days sitting at desks, dealing with various media projects and getting things ready for print or online. The stairs up to the office are a bit narrow, and sometimes the delivery guys complain about carrying heavy boxes up here. Nizamuddin is a lively neighborhood, there’s always something happening outside the windows, which can be a bit distracting when we’re trying to meet a deadline. We have a small team, just a few people who have been working together for a while now. There’s a kitchen corner where we make tea about four times a day. That’s where most of our planning actually happens, over a hot cup of chai. We don't have any fancy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. You just walk in and someone will probably look up from their screen to say hello. The desks are usually covered in papers, notebooks, and half-empty coffee mugs. It gets a bit hectic towards the end of the month when everything needs to be finished at once. We just focus on getting the words and pictures right. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the rhythm of it. Being in this part of Delhi feels right for a media company.
