Nabi & Sons

You can find us at 306/6 in the Gulzar Market, right on the main road of Zakir Nagar in Okhla. It’s a very busy spot, always people walking by and scooters zooming past the door. The shop has been in the family for a long time, and the name Nabi & Sons has stayed on the sign through a lot of changes in the neighborhood. It’s a narrow space, packed from floor to ceiling with whatever we happen to be working on that week. We don’t have much room for a lobby, so customers usually just stand near the counter while we talk. It’s loud and can get quite stuffy in the afternoons, but we like the energy of the market. My brothers and I run the daily operations, and sometimes my father still comes in to sit in the back and keep an eye on things. We don't use any fancy computer systems for the inventory; it's mostly written down in big ledgers or kept in our heads. It’s a practical way to live. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and we often share tea or help each other out when someone needs a tool. The main road is always a bit chaotic, but that's just part of being in Zakir Nagar. We do our work, chat with the neighbors, and close up when the market starts to quiet down at night. It is a simple life and we are okay with that.
