Urban Systems India is tucked away in Panchsheel Vihar, which is in the South Delhi area. We are on the first floor of building B-37, in Flat Number 7. It’s a typical Delhi neighborhood with narrow lanes and houses built close together. Our office is a converted residential space, so it feels more like a home than a corporate headquarters. We work on various urban planning and system projects from here. There are maps and diagrams pinned to almost every wall. The space is a bit tight because we have so many books and project reports stacked up everywhere. Some of the chairs are a little squeaky, and the air conditioner makes a bit of a rattle, but we don't mind much. It’s a small group of us here, and we all know each other well. We usually eat lunch together at the big table in the center room. Panchsheel Vihar is a busy spot, so there’s always the sound of scooters and street vendors outside. It keeps us connected to the city life we are trying to study and improve. We don’t have a receptionist, so if someone knocks, one of us just gets up to answer. It’s an honest, hard-working environment without any of the usual office politics or flashy stuff. We just get on with the day and try to make sure our clients get what they need from us on time.
