If you ever find yourself wandering through Indira Virat Market in Dakshinpuri, you might stumble upon Shop No 27. That’s where we are. It’s a small space, but we’ve managed to pack it full of just about every auto part you could need for a car or a scooter. I’ve been working here with Manish for a long time now. The market gets incredibly crowded on the weekends, making it hard to even move a bike through the lanes. We open up early, usually around nine, and start checking what we sold the day before. Some days are just filled with people asking for advice on why their engine is making a clicking sound, and we try to help them find the right piece to fix it. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We just know where everything is by memory. If a box is missing from its usual spot on the third shelf, it means someone bought it recently. The lighting in the back of the shop is a bit dim, so I usually have to carry a flashlight to see the serial numbers on the metal components. It gets dusty, and my hands are almost always dirty by noon. We keep a few plastic chairs out front for customers who want to wait while we dig through the inventory. It’s a simple life, really, just keeping things moving in the neighborhood. We are just local people doing our daily work.
