Krafts House

You’ll find Krafts House over in Lajpat Nagar II, at I-12. This neighborhood is always moving. We are surrounded by other shops and homes, so there is never a dull moment. Our space is mostly taken up by materials and finished pieces. We don’t have a big showroom; it’s more of a working area where things actually get made. The floor is usually covered in some kind of scrap or dust from the projects we're working on. We try to sweep up at the end of every day, but by noon the next day, it looks the same again. It’s a practical way to work. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who walk in off the street. People in Lajpat Nagar are usually in a hurry, so we try to be quick. We don’t use any fancy systems. We just write things down in a notebook and check them off. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we use extra lamps on our benches. It’s a bit cramped when we get a large order in, but we manage. We’ve got a small back room for the heavier tools. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just wait it out or use the emergency light. It’s just how things are here. We just want to do the work and keep the shop running for another day.
