Jeevan Battery House

At Jeevan Battery House, located at Kalkaji L-1/73A, the air usually smells like old lead and acid. It is not a place for clean clothes. We spend our time moving heavy car batteries and checking voltages. When the power goes out in the neighborhood, the phone starts ringing about inverters. We have been in this spot for a long time, and the walls are a bit stained from years of work. It is a small space, so we have to be organized, or you can't even move. Most mornings start with checking the stock and seeing what needs charging. Folks from around Kalkaji drop by when their cars won't start in the winter. We give them a straight answer about whether the battery is dead or just needs a jump. It is physical work, and our hands are usually black by noon. We don't have a big front office, just a counter and the workshop in the back. Sometimes it’s just one of us here, other times we have some help for the deliveries. We take the old batteries back and stack them in the corner. It is a basic trade, but everyone needs a battery sooner or later. We just try to get people back on the road or keep their lights on at home. It’s honest work, even if it’s messy and hard on the back. We just do our job and close up when the sun goes down.
